Help me plan my remodel!

Hey Guys,

Hope I put this in the best section.

I am redoing my upstairs bathroom. I would not mind leaving it as it is, but I have closets on either side, and I figure If I am going to spend the time to do it, might as well make it better right???

Here is what I would like to do, move the shower and put a vanity were the shower is now that way I can put a shower insert in somewhere. The problem is the toilet will be hard to move, due to the cast iron pipe coming straight up through the wall.

I posted a picture of what Im dealing with. Maybe you guys could give me some ideas??!?

More info----are you willing to give up a closet?

Hey Mike,

Sorry for being short on info. Yes I would not mind going into the closet across from the toilet and sink. Put a shower insert there. But then what do I put were the sink is now?(maybe a linen closet) and I know I get get hot and cold water over there but Im worried about getting the drains hooked up. Figure a floor joice is a 2x8 or 2x10 right? so thats gives me about 7-9 inches to play with to get the slope right. See the drain is a big 4 inch cast iron pipe that I really cant move, because it is coming up a wall. and Im assuming directly under the toilet.

What is the plumbing wall like down stairs? I might be necessary to open the wall enough to pop the cast iron stack (cut with a chain breaker) so you can convert to PVC.

Breaking the cast iron will allow you to rearrange thing much more easily.

You tub is plumbed in 1 1/2" ---a shower is 2"---go figure.

Hey Mike, think I am just going to leave the cast there. Ive decided not to re-arrange to much. And I dont want to have to remove that pipe.

Also Im going with another tub and shower insert. Ill have to go the DEPOT and measure see what the tub is plumbed.
