Help building up my basement floor.

Hi All,

Attached is a picture of my basement floor. I would like to know the best possible way to seal it before I put in carpet or that vinyl laminate flooring.

Are we talking about patching all cracks with hydrolic cement, drylok on floor, 1 inch XPS foam on floor, use self leveling cement, etc?

If you could, can you list out the things I should do, step by step? (First do this, second, do that, etc?)

Explanations on each step would be great. I live in Manassas VA, which is about 30 miles west of DC if you need location.

Thanks!!

Do you have moisture issues down there in the summer?

How level is the floor currently?

What are you going to do about framing the walls?

Are you making this a finished, inhabital space or just throwing down carpet to hang around on once in awhile?

I'll be testing for moisture tonight, so I can get back to you on that. As for how level it is, I know there is a slope toward the back left corner, which is where the sump pump is located (in the picture, it is located under that white box on the floor, below the electric panel).

I will be framing everything out to make it a big room. PT wood on the floor, normal 2x4 framing, and then drywall over that.

Any insulation in the new wall, or on the old wall? May want to read here. http://www.diychatroom.com/f19/damp-...-floor-133950/
