Head bumping on kitchen hood

(Re-posted from appliance thread)
Our designer designed our kitchen with a range hood on a peninsula in the middle of the room; my concern is how convenient will it be for me to cook without bumping my head on it. I never had a hood before and this will be my first experience with one. What can I do to avoid this issue and what options are available to prevent accidental dumping. Please advise.

Head bumping on kitchen hood

How low is this hood? How powerful(cfm) is it? A correctly sized hood, both in cfm and overhang to the cooktop) should be able to be mounted so hitting your head is not an issue.
