Hanging sheetrock questions.
I am about to begin the sheet rock phase of finishing my basement and had a couple of quesitions. I am using 4x8 sheets. Is it easier to work from top down or bottom up? Do you need to level your sheets by snapping a line or will the I-joist be level enough? I do beleive you need to stagger your joints, but a friend of mine laid them up the long way (8' up and down) to cut down on the seams, but is that a bad idea? Any other suggestions before I begin the project?
Thanks for your help.
1.) Are you installing a sheetrock ceiling, or soffits? If so, then you should always install the ceiling and soffits (upper areas) first...then the walls.
2.) Are you installing an acoustic type ceiling? If so, then you can install the walls from the bottom up. I suggest that you use some 1/2" or 3/4" Scrap wood to lay on the floor as spacers, then rest your first sheets (lower sheets) on those.
