Attach a piece of colonial base to the ceiling and to the wall, then mount your crown to that

Your crown will hide all the ugly fasteners that you use to screw the base to the metal studs and tapcon the ceiling base to the concrete ceiling.

Thanks but we were thinking less expensive route so we are nailing the crown to the furring strip and caulking it in

You can cut triangular nailing blocks that get set 16" on center around the room. Use adhesive to hold glue them to the wall/ceiling and shoot a nail in each one to keep it in place until the adhesive dries.
Shoot the molding into the nailers.

Cleve's idea is great (thanx Cleve). If you cant afford all that baseboard, use 1x6, run a router down each edge and rip it in half . An ogee bit is pretty close to that colonial base.
