Hanging cabinet removal

I am trying to take off a section of cabinet that will allow me to have space for a bigger fridge. I thought it would e as easy as a couple screws but I was wrong.. I unscrewed two screws connecting the cabinet to the wall. Now it appears the cabinet is stuck? If not some how connected to the ceiling.

This are vintage metal cabinets (Youngstown, I believe). I will try to post a picture ASAP, phone is being crap right now.

Is it connected to a cabinet next to it?

If it is, I can not see a connection point. I was able to fit a taping knife between and it moved through fine. If it is connected it would be further back. No visable screws or bolts. I am a complete rookie at this.

Post a picture.

We almost got them off - there was some sort of plate close to the ceiling, about 4/5ths of the way up that it is connected to...

Long story short, we are leaving them up as is. There currently is no sheet rock in the space above them. Because of this, we would have more than I am capable of if we were going to remove them. We will just have to settle with a smaller fridge, not a big deal in the realm of things.
