going to remove part of a soffit, worried about wasps

How do you guys handle removing soffits, when you know there's a good chance that wasps are living above it? A couple years ago, I would always find those damn bees crawling in a gap between a porch lightbulb, and the soffit that the light sat in. I ended up putting on a bulb that had a thicker base, to close the gap, but I'm still worried about coming across bees up there. I need to run a piece of romex to the light, since it originally had K&T and I cut that off from the inside a year ago. Need a porch light sometime soon :P

Thanks!

Man I really dislike wasps!

Just get a broom and bump/bang the soffet in the area you plan on working. If nothing stirs then you're most likely ok. If some stir then you'll have to get some wasp spray (15-20ft) and spray them. Do it when the temps are cooler as they should all be present and less aggressive.

Good luck!

Seems like the best time to spray is early in the morning, everybody is home sleeping.
