garage as livable space

i have a question regarding my detached garage which seems to be lacking proper ventilation for a person to use as a living space. The garage gets really hot(especially the attic which is extremely humid). There is a regular door and a garage door but no other way for air to come in or escape. How can i make it so i can actually make this space a livable room? thank you

I'd start with your local Building Department. In some States, before converting a garage, you need to show location of off street parking and the neighborhood impact. Closing in the door may require a footing and short concrete wall to protect the siding from rot and water splash. The location may also affect zoning laws.

Be safe, Gary
