framing windows

I just replaced some old windows in my basement with new double-hung windows. As I am finishing the basement with wood studded walls, where do I end the stud near the window? Should it be parallel to the window casement (the 2x4s framing the window)? The window itself is set inside the concrete wall and flush. Hopefully I have explained my question well.

Since you want to put a finished wall over the studs, you would put it so the sheetrock would extend straight out to the wall from the window sash.
