Framing lumber very hard??

I am just about done framing the basement and I had an electrican come by and do all the runs. In my area all electric has to be run in conduit and I don't have the knack for it. Plus I really don't like electrical anyhow. After he was done he said the lumber was very hard to drill thru. Should I be concerned?? I did most of the framing when it was very cold out so the lumber I got was Extremely dry. I haven't heard of lumber being to hard before?? It's probably nothing but I wanted to get some opinions.

I wouldn't be concerned. Maybe the electrician's bit was dull:)
I was gonna say something about hard wood being a good thing but I better not!
