Fireplace granite surround, what adhesive?
Hi there-
I put in a fireplace insert, and am going to surround it with 3/4" granite. I cut out 8 inches of sheetrock to the left and right of the insert and replaced it with 1/2" plywood. 1 inch of the granite will overlap the metal face of the insert on left and right, the remainder will be on the plywood. The top will have 6 inches on the metal and 6 inches on plywood (the metal face on the insert is much taller on top than the sides).
The granite will be in 4 pieces, a bottom piece, two sides and the top...so they'll sit on top of each other. I'm trying to decide what kind of adhesive to use that will adhere granite to both the metal and the wood. I'm not sure if the fireplace will get hot on the face, it's new and I haven't used it yet...so I don't know if heat needs to be a consideration for the adhesive.
Epoxy? Silicone? A liquid nail product?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brent
