Finished Loft

I am finishing my loft and I am curious what the best way to insulate the roof is. I am going to frame 4' walls on each side to close off the dead space then i will have collar ties to flatten off the cieling at the top. there is soffit vent but no ridge vent. I am pretty sure the roof is an 8/12 pitch. Thanks for any suggestions or help that can be given.

even without a ridge vent you can't pack the insulation up against the roof. They make foam batten to create the chase under the roof and hold the insulaition away. Any lumber store will have them and they staple up quickly the nfill the rest of the space with insulation.

You'll need to install vents on the top side for proper ventilation. How many will depend on the size of the space. You should plan to put up as much insulation (or as close as you can get to) as the region you live in calls for. The insulation should be installed in the floor behind the 4' walls you're building, up the walls and around the living space. A visual will be seen on the insulation manufacturers web site.
