Finished Attic with Metal Roof
I have a finished attic with a metal roof. The roof pitch is about 14-12 and there is no venting at all. I have box gutters with a soffit, but no vents. The finished attic has drywall, wool insulation in a plastic bag, then planks every other row, then the metal roof. There isn't really a knee wall. Just about 10" between the floor and slope of the roof.

Obviously my drywall keeps cracking because there is moisture. I have cut out sections to verify that the roof doesn't leak. How do I vent an attic like this? Can ridge vents be installed on metal roofs? Right now there are zero vents on roof or soffits.

You must have venting in every bay. Continues vent at the soffits and ridge vent on top.

You must have at least 1” clear between the insulation and the roof sheathing.

Can I put a ridge vent on a metal roof after the fact?

It can be done, but if any one of the three pieces of the puzzle aren’t in place your defeating the purpose.
