Question

Drywalling without taking down a drop ceiling

I currently have a large bathroom in my efficiency apartment that has your standard drop ceiling and the walls are old plaster and lathe covered by old warped panel board. I would like to tear down the panel board and put quarter inch drywall over the plaster and lathe to create a new service. However, the problem will be how to incorporate it into the drop ceiling. Is there an easy solution? Or must I take the drop ceiling down and then put it back up on top of the new surface? Suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

you could put the drywall up to the drop ceiling. and put some kind of trim to cover the gap. but if some one looks at it, they could tell its not done right. but, it could still look ok.

If it's just a bathroom, it really wouldn't take a lot of time to carefully remove the ceiling and put it back up when finished. It may seem like more work however it would make the boarding and mudding much easier. Better yet lose the drop ceiling altogether.
