drywall over siding?

I just enclosed my padio. I was wondering if it is okay to put drywall right over the siding of the wall that went from being an exterior to an interior wall, or is there another option?

The siding should really have been removed before the walls went up. Extra studs install to support the wall and act as inside corners for the sheetrock. How do you plan on sealing up all the gaps where all the laps meet the wall. There is also no way to seal it up on the outside where an outside corner needed to go.
