Is this a double vapour barrier or not?
The inspector asked me to put in plastic sheet on the washroom insulation (on top)... but if I am going to install green board... wouldn't that create a double barrier for the greenboard?
as both behind and on top of greenboard have vapour barrier... water cannot escape...
or I understand "double barrier" incorrectly...?
Please advice...
I may write to city to clarify as I don't trust this new inspector...she is not the last one who visited us...

Is this a double vapour barrier or not?
The insulation goes on the "warm in winter" side of the insulation. That is, NOT on top of the insulation over your washroom. From the inside out it will be:Greenboard, plastic, framing, insulation, outside temperature.

Thanks, Bonus, that makes me writing to the city to clarify a good move then...
or just to clarify my situation is like this
outside | concrete | membrane | framing + R12 insulation | ? | greenboard | inside bathroom
should I put plastic in the ? position
the inspector say Yes...

Kui, as you just wrote it the inspector is correct. Sorry if I misunderstood. The vapour barrier should be between the drywall (greenboard) and the insulation. Are we on the same page yet?

I think you are getting confused about MR board.
Moisture Resistant Board (aka green board) installed, is not a vapor barrier in any way, shape or form. It is not rated as one nor is it recognized as one.

I have to admit the lady inspector is right, but she indeed is more serious than the male inspector who came before... not an offense... it just that you know... even she is right... she is more picky... she gave comment which is so relative, like " those insulation should be on the surface rather than pushing in in some places...etc. what I tried to say... if you want to pick on somthing, there are plenty of room... there is no perfect workmanship on any project... as I read from code standard, code suppose to offer minimum restriction to the project to ensure it fullfill the mimimum standard of safety...etc... not try to draw a perfect picture... like measure how many mm the insulation being stay below/above the stud surface....... and the attitude is another problem... like someone with a thick glasses and cannot smile coming into your house... this is the impression described by my wife ... and I picture it... this may be depends on the person, rather than male or female.... it happens in this case a female only...
