Question

Double-Hung Interior Door in 38" Rough

I can't seem to find an answer to this anywhere. It's a 38" rough that I'd like to install interior double-hung doors in that will look just like (or close to) the standard 6 panel door when they're closed. Doors would open towards the finished room.

I was really surprised my Google searches weren't coming up with tons of hits on this so now I'm wondering if this isn't something normal. But I have two sets of in-laws that had it done which is where I got the idea. Just don't know what it took so any advice would be much appreciated!!

You're looking at a pair of 18" doors in a frame. Any lumber yard can order it for you or you can just buy the doors and build a doorframe and mount them yourself.

Ok, thanks! Do you know if they'd come pre-hung? Trying to avoid having to build a frame and set the hinges. And being it seems so simple I'm still surprised I'm not seeing anything like what I'm looking for online.

They will come pre hung if that's the way you want them. You will need to tell them the jamb depth of the wall to get the correct frame. Houses built today generally have an interior wall that is suited for a jamb of 4 9/16". Older houses will generally have thicker walls if they're plastered.
There can be anomalies within the structure, so measure the place it will go.
If you go to a door manufacturers website, you will get what you want. Try Jeld-Wen.

Ok, well thanks again for the help. I'll just call around tomorrow to see what I find (options/price/etc) and will make sure to update the thread just to close the loop.
