Deck railings: Metalize / powder coat / prime paint ?

Hi and thanks, I hope I am in the correct forum.

We have remodeled and added 2 decks to the back of the house resulting in approx 120 feet of new wrought iron railing.

My question is ... knowing we are within walking distance to the beach ...

Do I pay the extra cost to metalize or powder coat or will 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint (sprayed on) achieve the same results?

some of the companies say metalize it, others say it wont make a difference .. cost is approx 1500 to do it.

If anyone here has dealt with this your info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I personaly never would have picked a steel railing system with salt air involved.
A composit stainless steel wire cable or reinforsed vinyl would give you many years of trouble free use.

Powder coat it, of course it won't be a lifetime finish in your environment but it should hold up well.
