Cutting Plastic Laminate counter top edge (hot bit roller)

What is causing my new carbide plastic laminate bit to get just hot enough to do some very minor melting in the material when cutting the counter top edges? It appears the laminate wheel is getting a little hot. I did have some glue on it which is common but don't know what the cause is. I tried moving the router slowly and quickly.
It didn't destroy my work , but I can see a very slight indentation where the hot bit wheel was riding along the counter top edge.
Your suggestions and or recommendation are appreciated.

not clean
not lubricated
not a quality unit
too deep a cut, trim first with tape on the edge then trim flush
lubricate with lacquer thinner as you make the cut

Steel cutter, should be carbide; bearing binding; dull cutter edge.
