Cutting out brick for glassblock?

My main bath is dark and the shower/tub is on the south wall where the sun hits. I want to cut out a big garden window and put 12x12" or 16x16" glass block in place of the bricks and maybe a window for ventilation. Something like this (hope this shows up):

This whole bathroom will be demolished, because of mold and updates. Where do I start and how do I go about cutting through the brick? Do I need support for the wall?

Are we talking about a solid brick wall or a brick veneer? There will be a slight difference in how I would proceed. The brick veneer wall will be thicker for one thing.

Judging by your location you may have 8" block walls - either plain 8" high or 4" high slump block.

If this is the case and you are not just removing block from under an existing opening, you would need a lintel over the opening. If you are lust working below and existing opening, you may not have to put in a lintel since one would be in place.

4" slump block, double layer wall. By lintel, you mean steel header-type sheet about 3/8" thick?
