Cutting down interior window trim

I've gutted my 100+ year old house down to studs. Ive insulated and am nearly ready for drywall. Except my window frames stick out too far. Any guidance on the most appropriate power tool to cut them down is much appreciated. I have tried several but nothing is working well. Thanks!

thats a hard cut to make, you could add a wood packing to the underside of the moulding to level it out,or add a backband to the outside edge of the trim

Consider adding furring strips to the face of the 2x4s before you drywall----bring the drywall out to the level of the old plaster---

I could tell you how to make a stepped router base that would allow you to us a router like a planer--

this would be used after the drywall is up,as you need the base to ride on the face of the drywall--

Furring would be easier---Mike--

bosch fine cut - Google Search --This tool will also do what you want-

I own one--nice tool for undercutting jambs --
