Here's an interesting report from Remodeling Magazine about Cost vs: Value when making improvements to your property.

Thank you.

I find the entry door replacement cost interesting.
How can a fiberglass door cost $2,358 more than a steel door? The installation is the same. |
I don't think the individual cost estimates is what one would look at or depend on for accuracy.
I have learned over the years that all of the cost-estimating-type books and guides such as Means and Blue Book can be way off from my local area numbers. Even after adjusting for regional averages. The value I see in the report is basically the percentages. It is helpful in deciding which improvements have resale value and which ones don't. I filtered the reports down to Omaha, and was surprised to see that an exterior deck offered more return (%) than remodeling a master suite.:) |
I'm pretty sure the best return on your buck for resale would be paint and flooring
|
Creeper is right about paint and flooring helping resale and is also the best bang for the buck.

Odd they don't mention a "Kitchen addition".
