Convertible Half Wall?

We have a bedroom to the right as you walk into the house where someone has converted it into an office. They took out the solid wall (floor to ceiling) and created a half-wall. This gives you a more open feeling since it is across from the living room. I am looking for ideas to make this convertible, where I can leave it open or enclose it when we want to use it as a bedroom. I am looking for something sturdy and yet inexpensive.

Convertible Half Wall?

Could you make shutters or panels? A picture would be helpful here.--Mike--

Convertible Half Wall?

Something like this is the first thing that comes to mind.

Hang it across the full opening. Use lightweight button-on curtains or fabric panels on it when you want privacy. Remove and store them when they are not needed. By itself, it would be fairly inconspicuous.
