concrete foundation practices

We were wondering what type of concrete foundation would have been used, or rather the practices, in the 1920's. We are looking at a house we would like to purchase, but are not sure what the repairs to the basement would entail.

My house is from 1925 with a rubble (fieldstone and mortar) foundation. You might be looking at re-pointing to restore the foundation.

Have someone do an onsite inspection. Much better to see something then to just read about it.

Actually there are different types of concrete foundation namely the T-shaped, slab-on-grade foundation and frost protected , seek for an advice who are skillful in that area in order to find out what foundation is suitable for your basement.
