Color of the flooring moulding?

I need to buy paint for the moulding for the laminate floor, here is an artistic question, I know most people use white... but my wife said same color as the flooring looks better... Just want to hear what professional have to say about this one, I know it is a personal preference, but what is the industry says ,,, such as make it similar color as the floor but darker or lighter to make a contrast...etc.... if it matter, my flooring color is kind of dark brown like choculate

Are you talking about a quarter-round moulding around the edge of the floor? I'd probably do the color of the floor, but only if you can match it well. I'm not sure it matters much though. I've seen it done the same color as the baseboard at least as often.

You will get many opinions telling you both ways is right. Some people would only go with the color of the floor, others only white/color of trim. I personally painted mine white in all rooms in my house. I put all of the qtr round in. We had hardwood floors sanded and refinished and repainted all trim glossy white. I prefer the look of the trim as all 1 color and clean looking. I can send you pictures of mine if you would like. I also pulled qtr rnd out of a room and a hallway that was wood color since it was slightly off the new floor color and I wanted all white anyway.

Color of the flooring moulding?

I bought the quarter round the same material as the laminate, so it is the same color... so I probably go with same color for the bigger piece moulding as well because if I go white with the bigger piece but non-white for the quarter round, it may look odd... although I could even paint the quarter round to white... all my upstairs are white... I am kind of a guy would like to try somthing new... so I will go for the same color..

thanks folks...

try it in a small area, leave it for a day or so, see how it feels to you. then, either finisih or change. Its one of those things that maybe you feel one way before you actually see it. For what Its worth, in most cases I believe firmly in contrast. I think clean, contrasting moldings look best. Mine are all "snow white" and I love the way it looks against my wood floors and the paint on the wall.

Base shoe....shoe base, or quarter round is generally always the same color as the baseboard.

However, that doesn't mean you always have to do it 'that' way....

Color of the flooring moulding?

I bought a brown paint... but after installing the doors, I found out I cannot paint baseboard any color other than white.... Why? because if you do that, you have to paint the trim surrounding the door to be brown as well... then you will have door being white and trim being brown... or you paint trim to be white then the brown baseboard meeting the door trim will be two different color.... or you paint the doors to brown as well.... well, that is kind of too much brown (door)....

so how can we use any color other than white on baseboard.... may be that is the reason why 90% outthere using white baseboard which no body mention this reason upstairs : because to compatible with door color and door trim....

unless you can tell me how...
