Closet Size Help...

I am building a master bedroom closet, and need help with the right size and doors. I would really prefer to put standard doors on the closet, but am not sure if they will be wide enough.

The closet's will be 12' long by 26" deep (reach in closet). I was thinking of doing 2 with a door for each. That means, each closet will be 6' by 26".

With that size, am I stuck doing bifold or sliding door's for access? What would be the max I can go, and put a standard 30" or 36" door on it?

I have a 6 foot closet in a secondary bedroom with a 30 inch door. I don't remember the depth off hand. You may have trouble easily reaching items on either extreme side of the closet. Can the closet be any deeper? That would also help access and visibility of the clothes.

It's a pretty shallow closet so maybe you could do the two closets with two sets of double doors. Two 24" doors (open from the middle like french doors) would give you good access and would not swing to far into the room. A top and bottom catch/latch would give you 48" of access to each closet.

I measured my secondary closets. They are actually closer to 7 ft wide with a 30" door. And are 23" deep.

I think I would go with sliding doors if I was you. Since it's the master closet and you probably need every bit of the space easily reachable.

I've seen some really attractive sliding doors that look stylish.
