certainteed mainstreet vs monogram
I'm having my siding replaced and I'm really in a tight budget because of the current state of economy..
1. Besides the obvious thickness difference (.004"), and assuming normal wear and tear, is it worth it to spend the additional $900 and go with monogram?
2. Would there be a dramatic color difference if i had the 2nd floor siding (where damage is more prevalent) replaced now and the first floor replaced in the near future (say a year) ? I want to know if this is a viable option considering my budget constrictions.
3. Both quotations i got called for tyvek and 1/2" foamboard. What brand of foam board should i insist and are there different r-values in the market for foam boards? BTW - the lower quote was about 4-5 thousand less but it came from a contrator that i see doing work a lot in our town. Should i be wary of anything? The higher quote was listed in the certainteed website when you do a contractor search
Certainteed makes quality products, but there is no way to guarantee an exact color match over time. And the sun will bleach out some colors worse than others. I would say do it all at once, or at least buy it all at once.
Besides, Obama will have everyone back to work in a couple of weeks.
