cement board on top of cement brim in washroom

I have old walk in mortar base shower which i am redoing (not removing floor base/tiles) . I am installing cement boards on wall they are resting on top the of the side parameters of walk in shower ( the original cement on the side comes 4-5 " up from the side. Is there a way i can bond cement board with this cement parameter.
Also old wall tiles (which are also removed) were going 1/2 -1/4" inside the base shower. What should i use to fill this gap between cement parameter and the floor tiles .....cement or something else. New tiles are going on rest on top of this .

I have removed the rest of the wall tiles. On the left side you can see that there is cement wall which is coming up couple of inches from the floor .Cement board is sitting on top of this . Also you can see there's a gap between this cement wall and floor tiles as i have removed the old wall tiles. Need help in figuring what to fill in here and how to water proof the area where cement board meets the parameter walls............Thanks

Is that shower pan made of vinyl or is it lead?

Shower pan in made of PVC . The picture is before cement boards were put up (will try loading more ). If you closely look there is gap between the cement wall and the floor tiles (on left side). Question how to waterproof this area ?

Personally I think you are asking for trouble by not also replacing the receptor in a shower that old but OH WELL.

You can use "lattice" to shim the wall studs outward if necessary then use a water-resistant shower wallboard such as Denshield for the walls. Fortunately the wallboard will lap the pan liner slightly. The wallboard can be set in a heavy bead of 100% silicone applied to the top of the wall remnant material.

Sure looks like a lead liner in the picture----

Check out HYDROBAN by Latacrete---

Are you leaving the old tile on the pan?

Just for fun----scratch that liner back by the nails--use a pocket knife or a sharp screw driver---

If it's lead---they do have a useful life,as the lead will oxidize and eventually fail---that tile looks like the 1960s---made a few ashtrays out of tile like that---Mike---
