Cement board and tile over laminate???

I would like to tile my laminate kitchen counters. Can this be done if using cement board anchored with screws? Will I encounter problems later?:help:

You could, Pros are: save time and a little money.

cons: If substrate for laminate is particle board it will swell when wet.
(this could cause problems you would regret)
You will be creating a non standard nosing size /trim challenge

What if you used Kerdi or Ditra over the counter top? As for the Ditra, that would not be all that different than a typical floor install, except the material under the Ditra would have a laminate rather than wood. Or maybe you remove the layer of laminate. Thinking about how well the "mud" would adhere to laminate......

we place expanded wire mesh stapled into the existing c-top,,, think its much better system.
