Cement Board or Drywall or Both

I had a contractor move our boiler located inside the house right behind the guest bathroom to the garage. The new space will be converted to a linen closet. The knocked down the old drywall and i'm ready to install new drywall but i'm stuck with the following question. Should i install Cement board and then drywall on top of the cement board? Or should i install mold resistance drywall only or cement board only? :wallbash:

I went down to my local hardware store and they said i need to add some black paper to resist moisture and then the drywall on top. I originally was going to install cement board and then drywall because that is how it was originally set up.

The closet will be behind our guest bathroom so there will be some type of moisture.

Thanks in advance

Confusing post.
Tile board in any wet area if it gets tiled, IE; shower and tub, green board in the rest of the bathroom.
Never install drywall over tile board, waste of material.

Thank you Joe.

I have the Green board ready I am just not sure if i should install anything before to observe moisture. The closet is right behind the shower. Shower - Wall studs - Closet. Does that make sense?

drywall it with mold board.

I agree it just needs mold resistant or paperless drywall but make sure to also install an access panel behind the control valve for future service.
No tile board or vaper barrier needed.
Lowe and HD have simple to install snap in ones. Make sure to buy the larger one.

Thank you prince & joe. Will try to add an access panel & stick with mold resistance drywall.
