caulk or grout shower corners

Ive looked around a bit and it seems most people suggest silicone on tile shower corners. I was curious what you guys opinion was.

Walls move--so when grouting--knife out the grout in the corners and apply a good caulk---I use silicone---however many setters prefer the color match caulks that are made by the grout manufacturers---

I've never had a failure with silicone so I have not tried the other products--

I use the color match caulk. To me, it just looks better.

I don't know what the pros do, but what I have done the couple of times I've used silicone caulk is to first lay out strips of painter's tape separated by the width I want the caulking to be, applied the caulk, then smoothing it out with a finger that was dipped in soapy water. You have to be careful, as the stuff sticks to almost anything.

Hmm soapy water. Does that work?

I've recently replaced my master bathroom tub and I just used a caulk gun. It eliminates the mess and doesn't get all over.

Silicone caulk is the most challenging until you learn how----

Here's how----

You need a roll of paper towels and a bottle of Greased Lightning.

Remember this---silicone will stick to any clean dry surface--
It will not stick to a wet soapy surface

Apply a small bead of caulk---immediately spray the line with Greased Lightning

Spray your finger---then tool the caulk with your finger, removing excess to a paper towel.

Try this---it works.

409 works great for cleaning fresh silicone. apply the silicone before grouting and dish out the joint. allow it to dry and grout over the top. This seals the corner but lets your tile shower have a uniform finished look.
