To get an idea of what your in for....get a stud finder....see if you can locate the studs on the door frame....

One piece of advice....assuming the electrical is out of the way and you have your header in, make sure you set the door frame with the door in improves your chances of it being straight. Here is a pic of what a rough opening should look like...

Once you have determined what you need to do....get your door along with the frame....then create your rough opening to match. You want a little space between the frame and rough opening for wiggle room. I personally prefer to try and nail the jamb side to the stud and shim the hindge side. But thats me....I've only done maybe 5 doors so I'm far from an expert...but I've made plenty of, making the rough opening 'exactly' the same size as the door frame....

Even if you are on the right track, you will still get run over if you just sit there.

Find somebody that knows enough about framing/structure to see if the door
is in a "load-bearing" wall.
If you're going to have to do something about the electric -
don't stand in a puddle!

If it is, don't forget to buy a few lottery tickets before your luck changes.
