Buying Kitchen Cabinetry

I will be remodeling my kitchen this fall with new cabinets, fixtures, etc. I am looking at semi-custom, 100% plywood cabinets. My question for the community is, what is the best priced channel to go through when ordering cabinets? Through volume, it would seem like HD or Lowe's would be cheapest. However, I have heard that this is not the case. Would a dealer, contractor, or big box store be the most reasonable with regard to pricing?

Buying Kitchen Cabinetry

we priced the big box stores when we were doing our kitchen

6800.00 for particle board
8200.00 for all wood

rta all wood cabinets 3300.00
and when we ordered they had a 40% off sale so it was under 2200.00

Thanks for the reply Danny. However, I should have mentioned that my pricing will be limited to Kraftmaid, Merillat, and Quality Cabinets.
