Maybe I'm missing something from the picture, but is there any reason you can't nail a 2x6 between the wood studs? Nail through on one side and toenail the other?

So the place where I need the blocking is between the prefab studs. They are made out of concrete, and topped with a 3/4 wood strip. I am afraid if I nail into the strip on the side, that I'll split it.

Screw them rather than nail them or use a trim nailer with 2-1/2" nails. Use adhesive to secure them to the concrete also. You'd actually be better off framing a regular 2"x4" wall in front of the concrete to allow the use of regular electric boxes, etc. Tear the strips off........

Use pressure treated 2"x8"s between the 2 preformed "studs".
Use the existing access holes to bolt them in.
Now you can add the blocking to the 2x8s.
