Black & White kitchen questions

Hi everyone,
I'm a first time poster, I'm hoping you can help me with suggestions/answers.

We're buying a house and it has a black and white kitchen. Black tile as the backsplash and white cupboards. Our style is more neutral colors so I'd love to change this. Can tile be painted or do I have to remove the black tile and replace with something? And the white cupboards, I can't change them from white to a neutral medium oak color somehow correct? I have to rip them out and install new ones? Just making sure, sorry, first time homebuyer here.

Any suggestions welcome! We don't have a lot of money so doing this on a budget.

You can reface the cabinets, but you will need to replace the tile.

Not sure what kind of cabinets you have but you should be able to paint them if they are in good shape. It will be tricky if they are laminate but the new plastic primers or melamine paint may get you by for at least a time.

You can also use a nice superbonding primer and paint the tile but you will not be happy with the look.

Black tile might look nice against beige cabinets.

You don't mention your counter. If it is also tile, paint will not last.
With proper prepwork you can paint your backsplash tile, just keep in mind two things. One - it's gonna look like painted tile. And two, it will be a delicate surface prone to scratching.
