Best way to lay tile on fireplace?

Hi all. I am wanting to tile my fireplace with some of that slick high quality grey tile. The tile has a high gloss finish on it. But What is the best way to do the transition from the flat, horizontal surface, to the vertical surface where the brick meets the wood floor? I don't really know how to do the corner there. I don't really want some thick grout line, or the unpolished surface of the side of the tile showing. But I'm trying to keep it all flat. See the pic for what I'm talking about.

Baseboard or bull nose tile should work.

If the tile is solid porcelane the edge can be polished or even bull nosed---my local tile supplier provides that service.

A long mitered edge is possible--if you have the use of a bridge saw it is rather easy.

So I need to get porcelain so that the edges can be polished. Also, what exactly is bull-nosed? I have never heard of it.

Most tile is just a colored glaze on the top with a different colored body---the edges look ugly----

Solid body porcelain is not glazed--the material is the same color all the way through--much like granite---those can be polished ,by a shop that has the right equipment---

Thank you very much for the helpful replies. Would you say that this is the preferred method of making the corners look good? How would the pro's do it?

I have a bridge saw ---so I do a lot of mitered corners----it is expensive to have porcelain tile or granite bull nosed and polished---so I seldom get that done.

Many tile have matching bull nose---so that is an option also.
