Best resource for granite

Hi, I have been on the DIY forum for awhile, but never posted a question on this forum, so here goes. We are re-doing our bathroom and I want to put granite over the vanity. We had our kitchen done by a contractor, but I am trying to do as much of the bathroom as I can, and just getting help with the big stuff, like tiling the shower and floor. What I would like to know is where is the best place (i.e. least costly) to buy a piece of granite? I can get my handy man or tile guy to help with the installation, but can I go to a granite yard with my measurements and have them cut it, or do they only deal with contractors? I found a place on ebay that is in Houston, and they have 96" pieces for under $400, but my vanity is 92" long, so it would still need to be cut. Has anyone done this themselves? Also, I'm wondering how I would get it to my house- do most granite places deliver? Thanks for the input!

You can get the granite at a yard but you'll need a fabricator to finish the edges. Your handyman is not qualified for this.

So, do I have to take the granite to the fabricator, or do they get it from the granite yard, or does the granite yard take it to the fabricator. Then would I need to pick it up from the fabricator to get it to my house? Or is each one different, and I would just have to call them? Do you think it would save me any money to do it this way, or just call someone who advertises granite installation?

Granite yards work with fabricators. You can just have the fabricator deal with the yard. Granite is very heavy, unless this is for a small vanity, I'd let them install it.
