We just had vinyl windows installed (retrofit) and the capping job is sub-par. I'm wondering what standard practice is so that I can go back to the installer with the correct demands if necessary.
Firstly, the windows are capped, but the capping isn't caulked to the concrete/brick - The pictures are basement windows, but it's the same for the brick edges on the 2nd story windows we had done. I'm assuming that the edges and bottom should be caulked to stop water intrusion, right? Or is this left for drainage?
Secondly, here's their capping job of sill. Should I demand it torn out and redone? I could probably do a better job myself given a weekend.
Any other work critique appreciated, I want these guys to do it right or it's straight to homestars with these pics.
And sorry about the sepia, I'm camera-challenged!
