Bench seat in a tile shower

Was wondering how people have constructed bench seats in tile showers.

I understand its ok to frame with lumber then cover with cement board and then add the liner from the floor to the bench in a continuous piece. Is another layer of cementboard typically added over the liner at this point to provide a base for tile? If so, how are the horizontal and vertical members attached? Is it typical to just use thinset to hold it together? Are screws permittted through the vertical member into the liner?

Bench seat in a tile shower

I just did one with a SS 1 1/2" angle under the front edge of a stone corner eat inset about 4" from the front. Looks nice to have the area under the seat open. the stone matches the counters
