bathroom remodel.... i need ideas

I'm getting ready to remodel my bathroom and I'm going over about how much it will cost me. Everything is coming down drywall to subfloor. The bathtub cracked and flooded the bathroom so everything gets changed. My first question will be moving the shutoff valves to inside the wall. Right now the shutoffs are coming thru the subfloor. The move will 6-8 inches. Do I cut the line and move the entire assembly. Or is there a trick using a bunch of elbows I can do?? Lol

Pictures from the crawl space and again from the bathroom will get you answers--also--what type of pipe? Threaded steel? Copper?

You don't live around Cumberland Furnace do you? I got a buddy up that way, helicopter mechanic.

I see no reason why you can't cut the supply lines that now come up through the floor. Then you may have to cut them back a few inches more, add 90 degree fittings and bring it up through the sill plate of the bathroom into the wall. Basically you will be redoing it exactly as it was.......just 6 or 8 inches back so you can come up INTO the wall.

*But, yes, pics would help.

PVC is in there now. So that will be what goes back. I'm going to do wall to wall tile then put the tub and toilet back in. I'm just not wanting to cut around supply lines when I go back in with tile. I have vinyl in there now.

I can get some pics up once I leave this cursed holler. I coon hunt the Cumberland around hartsville and Lebanon. Never heard of Cumberland furnace but that don't mean I haven't been there chasing a dog. Right now PVC is what is coming thru the floor. My plan is to lay tile wall to wall and then go back in with my plastic tub and wall surround. Lol

PVC makes this an easier DIY project. I would invest in a PVC cutting tool to make nice, clean, straight cuts. Some primer and glue and you can reassemble your runs in no time.

Does it make sense to lay tile before setting the tub? Or set the tub then lay tile? Also I have plywood subfloor, what type of subfloor should I go back with?

You have to set the tub first & you will need something better than plywood to lay tile. Cement board or something more compatible with tile. Plywood will simply crumble with the addition of thin set when you go to lay the tile. I'm not an expert in tile so hopefully someone adds more info to the discussion to give you a better idea of what you are up against.

Yeah I was going to go with some durock or something. Just wondering what people are going with these days for subfloor replacements in bathrooms. I had the tub replaced a year ago and its caving thru the subfloor on the drain side. I'm also being told in going to have to set the tub mortar
