Question

Bathroom Remodel

Just Purchased an investment property. Has a window in the shower.
Would like to close it up and tile...Cedar shingles on exterior that we cannot match up. Would this work?: Leave outside window trim, take out glass, concreteboard inside, starafoam piece next to conc-board for insulation, then a piece of masonite, apply a stained glass looking film on masonite, then glass. Would I have any moisture problems? Live in KC area/so all seasons.

Bathroom Remodel

Not a great plan.
Post a picture of the siding you think can not be matched up.

Bathroom Remodel

Many retail stores use faux glass to give the appearance of windows, especially in big box stores. You could find a supplier and see if you can purchase a scrap piece for your window, then build the wall in the cavity of the former window with a vapour barrier on the outside, insulation, plywood, Kerdi board or other vapour barrier and then grout and tile.

Bathroom Remodel

My father did something similar replacing a window. He took some siding pieces from the back of the garage and installed the new stuff back there where it wasn't noticeable.

Bathroom Remodel

I wish I had a window in my shower! Fwiw, I vote to not close it off! If done properly, it can be quite a plus.
