Bath fan vent stays open?

Hello, I have a wierd problem and I cannot fiquire it out...

When my whole house A/C unit is on my bathroom fan exhaust vent on the outside of the house stays open just about 3/4". When I turn off the whole house A/C unit in slowly closes? "Wierd huh?" the outside vent is not damaged and works fine.

Even thought its got a baffle in it that closes to prevent a backdraft into the house from outside(baffle works just fine) the radient heat from a 90+ degree day is seeping into the bathroom and slowly heating up the upstairs.

I have brainstormed this and my only solution thus far is closing off the bathroom A/C vent and closing the bathroom door..."But, Man does the bathroom get hot...

Anyone got any ideas what to do to fix this problem????

Sounds like you might not have enough return ducts in the house. Pressure is building up from the supply side, but the balance in the system is off, so the air is being forced out the bath vent.

Maybe the Stack Effect is heating your upstairs and the warm air is opening the vent door and leaving that way, and the extra air is supplied by infiltration and supply duct leakage.
Maybe. . .

Thx's. I think it might be both of your suggestions. The duct work is original in the home and the ac unit was added years/decades after...I'm going to give a call to some HVAC companies
