Basment Slider header Opening
Can I replace a basement door header for a slider, This will be a 6ft wide door, current header is 2 2x10's and I need a few inches. Can I replace with 2 2x6's and be good to go. above door is main floor and roof?

Probably not.
Let me get this straight, you have a wider and taller opening than what is there? You may be able to get away with 7 1/4 MicroLam. Check your local lumberyard and have them size the header. This service is free at many lumberyards if you buy your stock there.
