Basement window formed in foundation.

Need three new windows in basement. They ere formed in foundation. Do I cut them out of concrete or remove window sash and box around.

If the frames are in good condition, I use the old frames as stops for new vinyl windows. Order the windows slightly less than the concrete opening, apply caulk around the old frame and stick the new windows to the frame. Tnen use tapcons thru the sides into the walls. Foam around for airtight seal.

Never though about using frames as a flange, good idea. They are in pretty good shape. I could scrape a spray a coat of metal paint on frames. Bosdy shops use rust primer, turns rust into aprimer ready to accept paint.

I've put alot of cast-in place steel window bucks in place through the years when pouring foundations, and I wouldn't attempt to take them out unless you were desperate. There as tough as nails. There are a ton of decent windows available that "should" simply clip into your current steel frame in a matter of minutes. The hard part will be locating a local supplier.
