Basement shelves

Hello

I'm planning to clean up my basement () and I want to build shelves out of studs (2x4) and OSB
Length will be 8' and width 18" - planning to use only 4 legs
For the OSB, can I use 7/16" or I really need to use 1/2" ?
Home Depot has 7/16" boards at a good price (~$8 for a 4x8 sheet)
For me, most of the weight will be supported by the studs, not really the OSB itself, especially with shelves that are "only" 18" width....

Thanks

If your basement has any moisture at all, I would use plywood instead of osb. They will hole up much longer. If it is dry, you are ok with osb. Making the shelves 8' with no center support makes them likely to sag if you load them up. Consider a center support. Either add a leg of possibly an angled bracket

framing makes one good point.. the other being osb leaves has really ragged edges when it gets cut and youll tear up your hands along them.. plywood you can atleast and the edges of or put a edging on
