Basement Remodel

My basement was remodeled before I bought the house. It has a drop ceiling that is nice, a crappy linoleum tile floor, and ugly wainscoting. The first thing I am considering is removing the drop ceiling. The reason I am considering doing this is to get the extra couple inches of height and the illusion of a much higher ceiling. Does anyone have any pictures of a reno done like this?

The floor joists are 85" from the basement floor.

Thanks!

Better remove one or more of those tile in the ceiling first and take a look up there. I'd bet the reason there a suspanded ceiling is it's covering up heating ducts, pipes and wiring, and it makes it all assable later on for service.

The drop ceiling does cover stuff up. The hvac trunk and main steel support beam is framed out and drywalled. I just want to be able to open up a little more as I want to entertain more down there.
