hello,can some body help.im installing backer board around my new tub.the tile is not going all the way to the ceiling so im going to have to texture around the tile.somebody told me i could use thin set to seal all the seams.i know i need it were the tile is going to go but after i put it on the sheet rock im going to texture it is vert uneven and it does not sand smooth.can i put joint compound over the thin set to smooth it out or can i finish around the edges were no tile will be with joint compound over the backerboard?

Yes, you can. Tho I would suggest using durabond (quick dry mix)
