All that means is that the owner is willing to screw the worker out of his days pay in the interest of making you happy.

The owner can write it off as a loss but the worker probably cannot. Doesn't seem very fair to me.

If I could only remember to THINK about what I was doing before I did it.

Then why didn't you finish it yourself?

As a licensed electrician, I know what my time, tools, knowledge and experience are worth. I detest people who think they are doing me a favor by offering me a low ball price for work. It's no favor and I always automatically double my price when someone tries to low ball me.

How many years did you hang sheetrock and tape professionally? I have taken over at least 200 jobs where a HO has started the job sometimes just rock, sometimes taping as well. Almost every time I hear how much experiance they have doing it, they just didn't have the time to finish it. I will not do a job or leave one that has been done half assed, if I am going to work on something it has to be done properly and when a HO has started it, there is always much more work then if I had done it right through. Price usually at least doubles sometimes more depending on how bad things are. I make sure I tell the homeowner before I start. I don't try to be mean and hurt feelings I just say since you started it and now you want me to finish it, this will be the cost etc etc. Going by the size of your room a fair cost would be around 550 dollars before taxes for a professional to come in, if you work was absolute crap maybe 700 +.
