Adhesive to use on Wall Tile

I am tiling a tub/shower surround with 12" x 12" x 3/8" Porcelain tiles and would like to know the best adhesive to use for this project. Can anyone offer suggestions?

Powdered modified thinset---do not use any premixed adhesive-"Mud" What Is It? - Kitchen & Bath Remodeling - DIY Chatroom - DIY Home Improvement Forum

Premixed will never dry under a big tile like that----and if it ever does it will re emulsify if and when any water reaches it through the grout.----Mike----

There's different schools of thought on this. For a tub/shower do not use an adhesive, you should use thinset.

The Schluter KERDI system is a popular way to tile bath or shower surrounds. You can get a lot of their stuff at box stores(HD), the rest you can order online or from most tile stores.

Schluter generally always calls for UNMODIFIED thinset, however a lot of tiling guys are also using Versabond thinset (lightly modified) with Schluter systems successfully.

Using the Kerdi membrane provides far better waterproofing/water management than just thinsetting tile to drywall or cement board.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice, I took back the pre-mix that I had purchased and went with a dry mix. It is working great so far, I am slow but it is gettting done and looks good.
