Adding 2' Cross Tees to 4' x 2' drop ceiling grid
I have a 4'x2' metal ceiling grid, and I'm changing to a 2'x2' grid. So I bought 2' Humigrid (plastic) Tee bars for each 4'x2' cell (the only choice available at the store). The Tees have molded plastic tips that hook into slots at the midpoints of the 4' lengths, and they fit perfectly. So the first row took less than a minute. The problem is the adjacent row; The plastic hook from the 1st row occupies the midpoint hole, and there isn't nearly enough room to fit two tee bar ends (one from each side) in the same hole. How is this problem typically adressed?

Typically you find a grid that will match up from a drywall supply (most sell ceiling products) or acoustical supply. If you can't find the match cut the tab off one side of the 2' tee and just snap one side in. If your ceiling is square, the tees will stay in place when the tiles are installed......
